Brrr..ace yourself as icy temperatures sweep across South Africa

JOHANNESBURG - A cold front hits several provinces overnight, with snow, damaging winds and rain expected to continue in various parts of the country. 

Already in Gauteng temperatures started dropping on Thursday. By Friday reports came that temperatures would struggle to surpass 10 degrees. 

Moving to other parts of the country like the Western Cape and Eastern Cape, residents are already left in despair.

In the Western Cape heavy rains have led to widespread flooding, with reports of wind damage in several communities.

Affected areas include Lotus, Imizamo Yethu, Langa, and Bonteheuwel.

Residents of the Northern Cape are preparing for another chilly week as a cold front sweeps through the nation.

Temperatures are anticipated to fall to -1 degrees in Sutherland.

Many residents, including the elderly, are cramped in shacks and find it hard to gather firewood to combat the frigid temperatures.
