WHITE RIVER - Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia is calling for a policing reset.
He said while there have been successes, significant failures must also be acknowledged and addressed.
Cachalia made the remarks during a meeting with his deputies and the country’s Community Safety MECs.
“So this is the time, even as we watch Madlanga every day, this is the time for the country to look ahead, to build a police service that fully expresses the feeling, the values, the aspirations of the South African people.
“What we tried, the journey that we started upon 30 years ago has had some success, some failure, and we are now in a moment that requires a reset, a rethink about what kind of police service we want to build in the decades to come.”
