CAPE TOWN - With the festive season just weeks away, Cape Town communities in gang-infested areas say they fear gang and gun violence will increase.
They say they are not seeing any reduction in violent crime since the acting Police Minister introduced Operation Lockdown Three.
They also question why authorities are failing to pour the same amount of money and resources being used to protect G20 leaders to stamp out gang violence.
Those on the ground say while people look forward to the festive season, they are worried about the increase in gang activity that continues unabated.
Gang violence has killed hundreds of people in Cape Town, including children, in recent months.
