Cape Town township pupils fight for classroom access

CAPE TOWN - Hitting the streets of the Cape Town CBD to shed light on the issue of unplaced pupils.

Equal Education is demanding the immediate placement of the pupils.

The advocacy group also wants clear catch-up plans for each individual and an inquiry into how this happened.

It led a march to the provincial education department and the Legislature to highlight the plight of those still waiting to start the academic year.

Provincial authorities say their Rapid School Build programme is helping them construct new schools and classrooms faster than other provinces.

Since 2022/23, 25 new schools and an additional 1,661 classrooms have been built.
