PRETORIA - Suliman Carrim will spend the weekend behind bars.
This comes as his bail hearing was rolled over to Monday.
Carrim appeared at the Pretoria Magistrate's Court after being arrested at OR Tambo International Airport.
In hand, he had a one-way ticket and had five bags of luggage.
The state accuses Carrim of attempting to leave South Africa with no intention of returning.
He had repeatedly failed to appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Carrim stands by his claim that his absence from the Commission was due to medical reasons.
He was trying to board a flight to the United Arab Emirates when he was arrested.
Carrim said his trip to Asia was for spiritual upliftment.
