'Cat' Matlala Trial |Defence accuses security officer of tailoring evidence

PRETORIA - Alleged hitman Musa Kekana claims he wasn't the driver of the Hyundai i20 police were looking for in connection with the murder of Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart.

The firearms found during his arrest in April 2024 link Kekana to the botched assassination attempts the state says alleged criminal kingpin Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala ordered.

A trial within a trial is now underway to determine the admissibility of evidence retrieved during Kekana's arrest.

Captain Phimi Sekgobela, who's the state's third witness, is now detailing how Kekana's subsequent arrest took place and what was retrieved.

The trial within a trial resumes on Tuesday with the state leading Sekgobela in his evidence in chief.

eNCA senior reporter Silindelo Sebata has the latest from the trial in the video above.
