'Cat' Matlala's fraud case postponed to next year

PRETORIA - Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala will return to court on 11 February 2027 in his property fraud case.

Matlala and his co-accused appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court, where the matter postponed for the finalisation of financial investigations.

Matlala, his wife Tsakane, his sister Claudette Masethe and Gift Makofane face charges of fraud, forgery and uttering.

The State has alleged they falsified documents in January 2025 to secure a R95,000-a-month lease for a Waterkloof property.

Matlala also faces a charge of contravening the Identification Act, linked to an allegedly forged Eswatini ID.

He abandoned his bail bid, while his co-accused are on R20,000 bail each.
