JOHANNESBURG - Childline is concerned that around 100 children between the ages of 10 and 14 were raped.
The Eastern Cape girls gave birth between April and July this year. Several cases have been opened against adults accused of impregnating minors.
Okuhle Mdodana from Childline in the Eastern Cape says this points to the ineffectiveness of the protective measures.
According to Mdodana this results in children being vulnerable and exposed to abuse.
She says there is an need for an urgent review of strengthening of children's safe guarding polices.
