China's Xi Jinping makes industry, agriculture development proposals as BRICS Summit wraps up

JOHANNESBURG - The 15th BRICS Summit has wrapped up with China and South Africa reiterating their commitment to trade and other relations.

China President Xi Jinping has made three proposals to support Africa’s industrialisation, agricultural development, and Plans for China Africa Co-operation on talent development.

At the same time, India's Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra says BRICS is concentrating on establishing a national currency trade settlement mechanism.

Kwatra was responding to questions on whether the bloc is looking to trade without using the US Dollar.
