City of Cape Town officials booed off stage at imbizo

CAPE TOWN - City of Cape Town officials are accused of turning their back on underprivileged areas by storming out of a community engagement event.

The Councillors Imbizo event, held by advocacy organisations like Ndifuna Ukwazi and My Vote Counts, was intended to allow residents to address officials about service delivery.

However, finance MMC Siseko Mbandezi accused organisers and attendees of insulting him before he left the meeting.

Organisers say they hope that government will commit to listening to their concerns.
