City of Cape Town suspends MMC Malusi Booi

JOHANNESBURG - The City of Cape Town's Human Settlements MMC Malusi Booi has been suspended with immediate effect.

This after police conducted a search and seizure operation at the city offices, including his on Wednesday.

Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says the matter relates to alleged fraud and corruption.

The city's mayco member of economic growth, Alderman James Vos has been appointed as the interim human settlements MMC.

Hill-Lewis says the city has a zero-tolerance approach to fraud and corruption and they will cooperate with police investigations.
