The city spokesperson, Phakamile Mbengashe, said it supports the work of law enforcement agencies.

He said that since the press briefing by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the country has entered a new era

Mbengashe described it as an era of accountability

"As a city, we do have a business continuity plan. There are officials that act in other positions where necessary.  And I think we've always stated on the record that we support the work of the Matlaga Commission and law enforcement agencies, " he said.

While commanding the work, Mbengashe stressed that the accused remain innocent until proven guilty.

"That's why we are here at court to observe the happenings of what's going on. But we fully support what is happening in terms of uh governance and in terms of fixing issues that are taking place in the city," he added.
