City Power cuts supply to non-payers

The Johannesburg power supplier pulled the plug on businesses that were unable to prove they are up to date with their bills.

JOHANNESBURG - City Power is on a mission to recoup millions of rands from businesses in and around Alexandra township that have not paid their electricity bills.

The Johannesburg power supplier pulled the plug on businesses that were unable to prove they are up to date with their bills.

Businesses that were cut off say this will be detrimental to their operations.

City Power will continue with its campaign for the next two days.

It says it will also move to default customers and those illegally connected.

City Power says only four percent of residents and businesses pay for electricity in the area.
