The ANCYL's Fortune Mathabathe said, "the city of Tshwane normally pays employees on the 26 of every month, this [Monday] morning we were informed by many of our members, early in the morning around five/six that their salaries have not been paid, so as Samwu we did engaged the City of Tshwane to say what the challenges are in regards to non-payments."

"They indicated that it's not necessarily that the City has cash flow problems but that ABSA as their banker has technical glitches, we hoping that by the close of business, those salaries should have been paid."
