SOWETO - What is the state of the justice system in South Africa? That’s a question asked by friends and family of six-year-old Amantle Samane.
The Grade R pupil was raped and killed in October last year.
A handful of supporters braved the rain to show their backing for the family of Amantle.
The alleged rapist and killer, Pethe Simiao from Mozambique, was at the Protea Magistrate's court.
Six months after the murder of the Grade R pupil, the community is jaded at the constant violations of women and children.

The case was postponed to serve Simiao with an indictment to move the matter to the High Court.
With investigations complete, the State is preparing for trial. It does so as authorities are under scrutiny for recent failures to prosecute those responsible for the abuse of women and children.
Besides kidnapping, rape, and murder, the Mozambican national also faces a charge of Contravening the Immigration Act.
The case will be back in court on Monday.
