Consumer price inflation spikes to 2.8% in April

JOHANNESBURG - South Africans left in disappointment as consumer price inflation (CPI) rises.

The annual consumer price inflation has risen to 2.8% in April. This is an increase of 0.1% from March which sat at 2.7%. 

These news come after consumers let out a sigh of relief in March when the CPI dropped sharply in March.

In month-on-month terms inflation was at 0.3% in April.

Housing, utilities, food and non-alcoholic beverages, tobacco, restaurants and accommodation services were the main contributors to the increase.
