Convicted killer, Sibusiso Zitha calls pastor to mitigate sentence

JOHANNESBURG - Convicted killer, Sibusiso Zitha, will call his pastor to testify in mitigation of sentence.

Zitha confessed to killing his partner, Thembi Letlape, the daughter of Action SA MP and former SA Medical Association Chairperson, Dr Kgosi Letlape.

As the matter nears finality, the family says it wants a sentence that will be a mark of their daughter’s value.

Dr Letlape is expected to take the stand as part of sentencing proceedings. Victim Impact Statements from other family members will also be submitted.

The Letlapes have their eye on another bereaved family, that of Leigh Matthews, and know that a maximum sentence may not be enough.

The case has been postponed to Thursday.
