Cop claims 541kg of cocaine was stolen from KZN Hawks offices

PRETORIA - The Madlanga Commission has heard how 541kg worth of drugs could have been stored in a much safer location than Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal.

They were later allegedly stolen from the Hawks' offices.

KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Lesetja Senona allegedly broke protocol regarding the storage.

Component Head for Serious Organised Crime at the SAPS Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), Hendrik Flynn, testified on the bust on Tuesday at the commission. 

Flynn said the sequence of events was by design. 

He said events leading to the theft of 541kg worth of drugs from the DPCI offices in Port Shepstone raised eyebrows.
