COSATU 40TH Anniversary | Ramaphosa commends the historical work of the COSATU

SOWETO - The COSATU is celebrating its 40th anniversary today since its inception in 1985.

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) is a body of trade union representatives that works to defend workers' rights in South Africa.

President Cyril Ramaphosa spoke today at their anniversary celebration in Soweto, and commended the work that the organization has been able to achieve over the past 40 years.

He applauded key leaders that have propelled the organization as the organization has been key in influencing the agenda against apartheid and against the exploitation of black workers since the 1980s.

"The ANC is determined to strengthen the relationship between the workers of our country and the anc. It is also determined to strengthen the strategic alliance that it has with Cosatu, with SANCO, and the SACP, despite the many challenges that we must face. We must therefore close ranks and unite and advance the national democratic revolution."

Ramaphosa emphasized the many advances that the alliance between the 4 organizations has been able to achieve including a national minimum wage.
