Court action over Eskom PFMA exemption

AfriForum is taking government to court over its exemption of Eskom from certain provisions of the Public Finance Mangagement Act.

JOHANNESBURG - AfriForum says Eskom should focus on getting its house in order instead of using tricks to better its situation.

The embattled power utility has been exempted from reporting on irregular and wasteful expenditure for three years.

Its Local Government Affairs Manager, Morne Mostert, says this can't be tolerated.

"There should rather be time and effort put in to better the reporting system, to better the supply chain management.

"And I think the supply chain management is one of the key problems that Eskom is having where the contract management isn't  being done properly," Mostert said.
