JOHANNESBURG - A recording played during the bail hearing of former police deputy commissioner Shadrack Sibiya at the Randburg Magistrate's Court has exposed his connections with suspected criminal syndicates.
In the recording, the unidentified speaker discusses knowing Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala but denies receiving money from him to pass on to Sibiya.
Another recording introduced alleged personal connections involving a senior judicial figure.
The speaker recounted an incident in Sandton in which the man allegedly struck a woman travelling with a child, before the woman’s daughter reportedly sought help through a personal contact.
