PRETORIA - The Pretoria Magistrate’s Court has ruled that SAPS forensic ballistic analyst Itumeleng Laurence Makgotloe's bail application has been changed to Schedule 5.
Makgotloe faces charges of defeating the ends of justice, being an accessory to murder after the fact, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
The charges remain at Schedule 1.
He is accused of manipulating ballistic evidence and submitting misleading reports in high-profile murder investigations.
He was applying for bail and the court ruled that the schedule should change. As such, the onus is now on him to convince the court why he should be granted bail.
The matter has been postponed to 11 June for a further bail hearing.
