Crime in SA | Hikers reclaim Table Mountain from thugs

CAPE TOWN - Hikers are reclaiming Table Mountain.

They held a protest hike along the Lion's Head Trail to demand an end to crime on the mountain.

It follows a spate of muggings on various trails.

Protesters say a handful of thugs shouldn't be allowed to stop people enjoying one of the wonders of the world.

"I think what we are trying to achieve here is a more consistent and visible policing on Table Mountain, so typically what we see especially before the festive season and during the festive season is an uptake in crime," said Andy Davies.

"It's crazy what we are seeing on the mountain at the moment."
