DA and MKP likely to emerge victorious - political analyst

JOHANNESBURG - Political parties are making the final push to ensure the electorate favours them on Wednesday.

Political analyst Brutus Malada said the DA and MKP are likely to come out on top in KZN, Gauteng and the Western Cape.

He said other parties should prepare strategies to deal with them.

"The biggest winner in this election will be the DA. I think the DA is likely to take three metros to emerge as the largest party in the three metros. That is Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni. The DA is likely to emerge as the largest. The fourth one will be Cape Town, which is obvious. They are already a leading party there.

"But with these three metros, it would mean that the DA now has its hands in the levers of power. So they will determine the kind of coalition that would emerge out of that as the largest party. The other key player, which I think will be a game changer, it's MKP. MKP will be a game changer in two areas. One in KZN in the eThekwini municipality, it's likely to emerge as the leading party and it might actually be able to form a government there. So you'll have an MK party led government in eThekwini. The other place where MKP is going to be a game changer is in Joburg. So I think those who are imagining coalitions in Johannesburg, they need to start thinking about how they will engage with MKP.
