DA says ‘moonshot pact’ ready for lift-off

DA leader John Steenhuisen says the moonshot pact is taking shape, with the leaders of five other parties agreeing to it so far.

JOHANNESBURG - The DA will host its National Convention for the moonshot pact this winter.

It's aimed at creating a coalition to unseat the ANC in next year's elections.

Six parties -- including the IFP, ActionSA, and FF Plus -- have agreed to attend the meeting so far.

The ACDP, UDM and Xiluva have declined the invite.

Party leader John Steenhuisen says leaders will negotiate the contents of the pact.

"Various party leaders have made constructive suggestions to ensure the success of any negotiations.

"These leaders share the dream of a strong pact to deliver the country from ANC/EFF doomsday," Steenhuisen said.

"It is for the leaders to get around the table and set out the vision for the pact."
