JOHANNESBURG - The class of 2025 at Joburg’s Kingsmead College is still on cloud nine after achieving a 100% bachelor degree pass rate and bagging a whooping 294 distinctions combined.
The pupils, who sat for the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations said the outstanding results were a culmination of consistency and resilience.
Speaking to eNCA, Zia Dasoo who secured seven distinctions in Mathematics, Life Sciences, Life Orientation, Business Studies, Afrikaans, English and was also in the top one percent of candidates in Consumer Studies said she was pleasantly surprised by her achievement.
“When I saw my results, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and relief knowing that all the effort and late nights had finally paid off.”

Emma Simmonds, who received nine distinctions and was among the top one percent of candidates in Life Orientation as well said the achievement was only the beginning of her journey.
“Matric feels like such a defining year,” she said.
“I’ve learned that your results are only a small part of the journey you are still building.”
Bibi-Fathima Peer who also achieved seven distinctions and was also placed in the top one percent among candidates in Life Orientation hailed the support she received from her friends and family as a contributing factor for the excellent results.
“More than being grateful for my marks. I’m grateful for the people who supported me. I truly couldn’t have done this alone,” Bibi-Fathima told eNCA.

Reflecting on the overall results, Kingsmead College’s executive head Lisa Palmer said: “The IEB matric places high value on depth of understanding, critical thinking, and independent learning, qualities that align closely with Kingsmead’s education philosophy.”
She added: “While we are proud of the academic outcomes achieved by the Class of 2025, we are equally proud of the young women they have become. This class exemplifies the balance of academic rigour and human values.
