Demand for space overwhelms GP Education - Lesufi
JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says the demand for space in schools is overwhelming the department.
Lesufi says over 1,000 additional classes are being built in the province.
"It takes long to build a new school but its easier and quicker to expand or add additional classrooms to already existing schools".
"In terms of primary schools it's 599 additional classrooms. In terms of high school, we’ve added 698 additional classrooms," says Lesufi.
He was giving an update on online admissions for Grades 1 and 8.
