Department probes alleged corporal punishment at Hammanskraal school

JOHANNESBURG - Allegations of corporal punishment being meted out to pupils have emerged at Madisong High School in Hammanskraal.

The Gauteng Education Department is investigating after pupils allegedly came forward detailing being physically punished by the principal.

Corporal punishment is illegal in South Africa.

Spokesperson for Gauteng Education, Steve Mabona says the department working with police are investigating this matter.
