Home Affairs says all live capture documents first need to be cleared by the back office before being issued.

The office has a generator and four Uninterrupted Power Supplies.

But the department says an issue is impacting the backup power.

The issuing of birth, marriage and death certificates is unaffected.

Home Affairs says technicians are working around the clock to ensure services are speedily restored.
