JOHANNESBURG - The African Transformation Movement has accused National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza of shielding the President.
Didiza has rejected the party’s no-confidence motion against President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The ATM filed its motion after the Constitutional Court ruled on Phala Phala.
It argued that the President's continued stay in office undermines accountability, transparency, and the rule of law.
In a letter to ATM leader Vuyo Zungula, Didiza said the motion was rejected because Parliament is already dealing with the issues following the court’s ruling.
She explained that Parliament had been directed to refer the matter to an impeachment committee for further investigation.
Assembly rules, she said, prevent the same issues from being debated in another parliamentary process while the inquiry is underway.
