On Tuesday the committee receive a briefing from the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) on investigations into the Defence Department and arms manufacturer Denel.

MPs said that given the corruption that has taken place within the two bodies, it appears the soldiers weren’t afforded adequate protection for their mission.

SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago discussed this with eNCA.
