JOHANNESBURG - The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA)
is on the toes of rogue call centers.
This as they are launching a new national opt-out register.
Information Regulator's advocate Collen Weapond says this will assist in cracking down on call centers that are illegally using mobile numbers from fixed locations.
At the same time, the government is also working on a new national opt-out register.
This heightened attention comes as spammers are dialing up trouble, and breaking the law.
This includes shady call centres spoofing mobile numbers to nonstop telemarketing calls.
