JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg residents are blowing their fuses over a planned prepaid electricity surcharge hike.
The city plans to increase the charge from R200 to R270 a month.
This is despite earlier promises to dial it down or ditch it altogether. The increase is included in the city's draft budget.
It also raises network capacity charges from R130 to R200.
OUTA’s Wayne Duvenage discussed the impact of this.
