PRETORIA - Crime Intelligence head General Dumisani Khumalo’s lawyer has accused the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) of having an agenda against his client.
This comes after Khumalo reported to the Brooklyn Police Station in Pretoria on Thursday afternoon.
Earlier in the day, eNCA reported that Khumalo was arrested and was being processed at the station.
However, shortly afterwards, IDAC spokesperson Henry Mamothame released a statement refuting the arrest of Khumalo.
"We wish to set the record straight that General Khumalo has not been arrested nor has anyone else from Crime Intelligence," Mamothame said.

Speaking outside the police station, lawyer James Ndebele, who is also representing a second high-ranking official, who was processed alongside Khumalo, said the developments came as a surprise.
Ndebele said Khumalo, alongside the official were contacted by an IDAC official at around 1pm to surrender themselves for an arrest and detention.
“They were told to bring an overnight bag, presumably they would be spending the night here.”
Ndebele said his clients complied with the instruction, but upon arrival at the police station, they were met with a turn of events.
“They received a call from a gentleman who later introduced himself as a Chief Investigator of IDAC, that they [Dumisani and the second senior official] should not be in attendance at the police station today.
“This is because they [IDAC officials] were instructed by the IDAC director not to execute the arrest today due to the fact that this was an instruction coming through from senior management.
Ndebele said his clients are still in the dark regarding the entire process.
“No information has been given to them in terms of what the allegations are. In an ideal world, if there is an investigation of some sort, warning statements are obtained, and a decision is made after the decision maker has looked at the complainant's complaint and the response.”
