JOHANNESBURG - Police arrested another drug mule at the OR Tambo International Airport following an intelligence-driven operation conducted this week.
The suspect was reportedly on his way to Frankfurt, Germany, when he was intercepted during the operation.
In a statement, police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk said police seized more than 40 kilograms of Khat concealed inside the suspect’s luggage during the operation.
"The drugs have an estimated street value of R240 000. The suspect is expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 25 May 2026, on charges related to drug trafficking," she said.
Police have intensified their crackdown on international drug trafficking,
moving through South Africa’s ports of entry.
