EAST LONDON - The Mdantsane community has warned the Eastern Cape Education Department not to ignore the bullying of an 18-year-old pupil.
A David Mama Senior Secondary School teenager is still traumatised after a group of boys assaulted her, in their scholar transport.
There have been concerns the suspended perpetrators are back in class. But education authorities deny this, saying their disciplinary hearing is ready to proceed.
The department says it understands the sensitivity around school bullying. It will therefore ensure all victims receive the necessary support, despite some scepticism in how authorities are handling this attack on a female Grade 10 pupil.
Spokesperson for the department in the province, Vuyiseka Mboxela, is warning the community against rushing the disciplinary process, saying it could result in denying the victim proper justice.
eNCA Ronald Masinda filed this report.
