EASTERN CAPE - Ford South Africa is driving the culture of reading to the Eastern Cape.
The car company in partnership with the non-profit organisation, Rally to Read, has donated educational materials to disadvantaged schools in the Eastern Cape.
They toured the province, engaging with teachers and pupils, with one mission in mind – empowering underprivileged pupils with literacy resources.
The school principal Nokwanda Jobe this initiative would address the challenge of reading from the foundation phase.
Ford South Africa Transformation director Esther Buthelezi noted with concern the issues of reading with comprehension, especially in the lower grades.
