JOHANNESBURG - The school system seems to be losing the war against crime.
Guns, gangs and stabbings are becoming the order of the day in the basic education fraternity.
At the same time, suicide cases are increasing, creating a troubling environment.
Various stakeholders have engaged in a discussion on what could be plaguing pupils at a session led by the provincial portfolio committees of education and community safety.
The portfolio committees hope this engagement will produce recommendations that help ensure the safety of pupils and teachers in schools.
