JOHANNESBURG - City Power may have restored power in Eldorado Park but the utility is not out of the woods yet.
Residents in the south of Johannesburg are fuming over constant outages according to the community, outages have been a norm since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They now believe City power is purposely marginalising the area.
If it’s not lights out, it’s low voltage for Eldorado Park residents in the south of Johannesburg.
That's according to fed-up residents.
The community blames power outages for the escalating crime in the area.
They are demanding a report from City power over the continued outages.

Eldorado Park resident Faradeba Evans said, "we want a report on why electricity outage in April, we want to know why the substation burned again now on Wednesday. We want a report."
Majiet Amien, a community leader, said, "like the community said if this thing is not on by today they will take action regarding this situation because everyone comes out and they give them a story."
Meanwhile, the Al-Meen foundation which feeds over 1500 people daily in the area say the outages has caused major losses.
City Power says vandalism and cable theft in the area have attributed to the power outages but they are investing in Security.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said, "we are working with the community, we are working with CPF also the essential infrastructure task team has been helpful for us the City of Johannesburg as we can see the successes from that.
For now, the power supplier says it's investigating the cause of the substation fire in the area.
