JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Basic Education is urging candidates who didn’t pass their initial National Senior Certificate exams to take advantage of the Second Chance Programme.
Eligible candidates can register to rewrite free of charge.
According to Basic Education Spokesperson, Terence Khala, who has long existed for the past seven years, offers an opportunity for anyone who has written post-2008 to be able to achieve their metric certificate.
He says candidates can either attend online tuition or face-to-face classes while also providing a wide range of learning materials to assist candidates.
“Ours as a department is really to make sure that we are the first ones to raise our hand where somebody does need that assistance in achieving what a gateway qualification," he says.
Candidates have up until 6 February to register.
