JOHANNESBURG - Controversy continues to surround former president Jacob Zuma.
Zuma's name has appeared in the latest release of child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's files.
According to the files, Zuma met with Epstein on 5 March 2010 whilst on a state visit to the United Kingdom.
A Russian model was reportedly invited to the meeting which took place at the Ritz Hotel.
The email, the Epstein files relating to Zuma's alleged dinner, says:
Dear Vera.
I am a friend of Jeffrey Epstein and I have been asked to help arrange a small dinner tomorrow night for President Jacob Zuma of South Africa at the Ritz Hotel at 7pm tomorrow evening.
Jeffrey suggested that I invite you, as you would be certain to add some real glamour to the occasion.
A friend of Jeffrey's is a friend of mine, so I have no hesitation inviting you to join us.
The email is signed off by Mark Lloyd, a known associate of Jeffrey Epstein.
It's still unclear what happened on the night of the dinner.
The Jacob Zuma Foundation has responded to the reports, saying it's a smear campaign and at no point does the report establish any unlawful or improper conduct by Jacob Zuma.
