Eskom claims it can heat up the winter but expert say otherwise

JOHANNESBURG - Eskom promises that lights and heaters will be powered this winter.

This comes after Electricity and Energy Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa gave an update on the state of the grid.

Eskom says the system is stable with emergency reserves in place. Units at Medupi and Kusile are back in service, and Koeberg's lifespan has been extended for another 20 years.

While Eskom is confident, energy analyst Mohamed Madhi has mixed reactions.
