Eskom escalates blackouts to Stage 4

JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has escalated blackouts to Stage 4 from 6pm after generation units at Kendal and Lethabo power stations tripped.

Eskom says Stage 4 power cuts will be maintained until further notice.

The beleaguered power utility had implemented Stage 3 due to the shortage of generation capacity and continued breakdowns.

Eskom says it will publish a full statement on Wednesday.
