Eskom implements Stage 5 blackouts until further notice

JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has reduced blackouts from Stage 6 to Stage 5 until further notice.

It says that's due to the slight improvement in generation capacity and lower demand.

The troubled utility ramped up blackouts to Stage 6 on Tuesday.

This was due to a delay in the return to service of a generating unit each at three power stations.

Eskom says it will publish an update should there be any any significant changes to the grid.

Due to the slight improvement in generation capacity and lower demand, Stage 5 loadshedding will be implemented from 06:00 today until further notice. Eskom will publish another update should any significant changes occur.
