Ethekwini fraud and corruption trial underway

The state accuses the suspects of rigging Durban Solid Waste contracts, valued at over R300-million.

JOHANNESBURG - The defense team in the eThekwini DSW tender fraud trial is trying to prove the forensic firm investigating the corruption was irregularly appointed.

The charges range from corruption and attempted corruption, to fraud and money laundering.

The state accuses the 22 suspects of rigging Durban Solid Waste contracts, valued at over R300-million.

Shawn Hittler, the State’s second witness, has reiterated Integrity Forensics Services was partly chosen since it was already probing one of the implicated companies.
