PRETORIA - Former Hawks head Godfrey Lebeya has told the Madlanga Commission he was denied state-funded legal assistance ahead of his appearance.
His legal team has argued that the decision was made by Lieutenant-General Tebello Mosikili, who had previously worked under Lebeya, and should therefore have recused herself.
But the Commission has questioned whether it has any standing to intervene in the decision, instead suggesting Lebeya review the decision through the appropriate channels.

Lebeya took the stand on Thursday as Madlanga Commission of Inquiry proceedings continued.
Lebeya was questioned about a police operation at businessman and alleged Big Five Cartel member Katiso Molefe's house in 2024.
