Expert: SA and US Relations hit new low

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa’s relationship with the United States has hit a new low after ambassador, Ebrahim Rasool, was expelled from Washington, DC.

This is according to international relations expert, Patrick Kadima.

US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, accused Rasool of being a ‘race-baiting politician’ and declared him persona non grata.

While experts say trade relations between South Africa and the US should not be affected by Rasool's departure, Kadima is concerned.

‘You are dealing with an administration that is stubborn and does not want to listen to scientific-based evidence of what is happening… It is quite complicated on how South Africa should go in terms of repairing this relationship as it is dealing with a difficult administration’. he said.

Kadima says President Cyril Ramaphosa now has to speed up the damage control in Washington.
