JOHANNESBURG - From cockroaches and other rodents to maize meal that doesn't have an expiry date.

This was just some of the horror found inside spaza shops in Diepkloof.

Operation Dudula descended into the area, saying residents want law enforcement to shut the shops down.

This follows the deaths of children in Naledi and the West Rand who consumed products bought from a spaza shop.

The operation was interrupted when police received complaints.

The National Consumer Commission says health protocols are being flouted.

Operation Dudula says it will continue with its inspections with or without law enforcement.
