JOHANNESBURG - The Busisiwe Mkhwebane Foundation has welcomed Mkhwebane’s acquittal on criminal charges linked to the Absa-Bankorp matter.
The foundation said the acquittal closes a long legal chapter that also featured in the parliamentary process which led to her removal as Public Protector in 2023.
It said the perjury case arose from controversy surrounding her investigation into the Absa-Bankorp matter.
The foundation added that Mkhwebane has consistently maintained that she was acting in the interests of accountability and ordinary South Africans and says she remains committed to the fight for justice.
