JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Water and Sanitation is opening four more sluice gates at the Vaal Dam.
The dam is currently sitting at 118-percent capacity.
The dam's water levels are due to higher-than-normal rainfall.
DWS says more outflows are possible, especially with the downstream Bloemhof Dam.

Numerous residents have been impacted by the outflows.
At Grootdraai Dam, the already opened gate has been increased to 2.5 metres due to higher inflows.
In the Orange River, the Gariep and the Vandekloof Dams are currently sitting at 108% and 1069% respectively and are overspilling.
Authorities say people living within the flood line downstream of the Vaal and Bloemhof Dams, and have had to evacuate should continue to avoid the flooded areas.
This as the river catchment remains oversaturated.
